Information about departments

     Since the foundation of Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Ust-Kamenogorsk, the school has had a department of Kazakh language and literature. The work of the department is aimed at an integrated curriculum implemention. The department includes 8 teachers.

   The discipline “Kazakh language and literature” plays a key role in shaping the spiritual and moral values ​​of students, respect for adults, instills feelings of love, friendship, loyalty and endurance.

   The main goal of the Kazakh language and literature department is to create a joint learning environment that meets the needs, inclinations, interests and capabilities of each student.

Members of the department are actively working on the development of criteria-based assessment technologies, critical thinking skills and the development of skills of gifted children through continuing education courses, seminars and coaching sessions.

   In order to increase the intellectual potential of the region, members of the Kazakh language and literature department carry out high-quality training of students for various olympiads and competitions, research projects.

Teachers of the Kazakh language and literature constantly extend their best practices and share them with their colleagues: G. K. Akhmetkalieva – developer of test materials for monitoring and NIS incoming students,  A. T. Mahatpaeva – Lesson study coordinator,  G. K. Mukataeva – an integrated curriculum developer for Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and an updated curriculum for secondary schools, author of a textbook of the Kazakh language and literature for the 5-7th grades. K.E.Turganbaev,             N.Z .Rashieva, G.K. Mukataeva, G.K.  Akhmetkalieva – members of CIE commission in         10-12^thgrades in Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools.

Members of the department regularly conduct open lessons, seminars and master classes in republican, regional and local schools in order to actively broadcast  advanced experience and educational practices.

Exchange of experience and methodological support with teachers of secondary schools in East Kazakhstan region are carried out through the program “Pedagogical troop” by introducing an updated program.

Members of the department, G.K. Akhmetkalieva, Z. Ozhanova Z, K.E.Turganbaev N.Z.Rashieva,  G.K. Mukataeva held master classes for teachers of Katon-Karagai, Tarbagatai, Kurchum, Altai, Kalbatau, Ulan districts, talking about the features and novelties of the updated educational program.

In accordance with the requirements of modern education, teachers of the department contribute to improving and enhancement of the communicative, patriotic, academic qualities of gifted students through learning of Kazakh language and literature.

     The Methodological Organisation of chemistry teachers has been in existence since the initial days of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology of Ust-Kamenogorsk. The department has been headed by Shamatova Gaukhar Zhanibekovna since November 2011.
     In the 2019-2020 academic year, this department has prioritized to work on the following areas:-
• Improving the quality of knowledge acquired students.
• Instilling school values through quality implementation of NIS programs.
• Providing opportunities to our learners in order to develop their leadership qualities.
• Implementing a differentiated approach in the learning process to ensure that every student is an achiever regardless of their abilities and interest.
• Continuous professional development of chemistry teachers in our department through internal workshops and online training
• Training of teachers to improve the tools for assessing the progress made in acquiring the learning objectives.
     Currently, we have 11 teachers working in the department: 4 expert teachers, 2 moderator teachers, 4 teachers and 1 trainee teacher. To highlight on some of the achievements by members of the chemistry department, Adikanova Zeynegul Koksegenovna, Kuderbaeva Gulzhanar Fazylovna and Gadzhieva Galina Nikolaevna are outstanding educators, Shamatova Gaukhar Zhanibekovna and Ovchinnikova Olga Anatolevna were awarded an honorary diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Abisheva Zhanar Semehanovna received a letter of thanks from the Ministry of Education and Science. We hope to receive even more awards as the academic year continues

     The teachers in the department are constantly working on improving their skills through training at various seminars, regular courses and online courses. Sagieva Nazym Nursydykovna underwent an internship under the Bolashak program at the University of Finland.
     Our teachers successfully apply the acquired knowledge in their teaching and all other professional activities. In addition, they share their experiences with colleagues within the department and externally through online lessons & seminars, master classes, training seminars and subject weeks, which are regularly organized by the department.

     The methodical association of teachers of history and self-knowledge includes 8 educators who teach subjects: World History, History of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan in the Modern World, and Self-Knowledge. The main goals of the association are teaching subjects, the formation of students’ humanistic values, patriotism and global citizenship.
     The main priorities in the work are to improve the quality of students’ knowledge through high-quality teaching, the development of conceptual thinking and the implementation of interdisciplinary connections based on conceptual learning, improving the trilingual environment to support the implementation of the NIS Program. Teachers of the methodological association contribute to the upbringing and education of the young generation, the country’s intellectual future. Effective work is underway to form a student’s research culture. The organization of research contributes to the formation of creative thinking among students, fosters independence in making concrete decisions, develops skills for cooperation, mutual assistance and support in the process of collective solution of research problems.
     The result of this work is the high quality of student work in external assessment exams (Imashpaev R.A., Abilkasenov T.S., Manatbekov Zh.M.). Effectively built work with gifted and talented children, the performance indicators of which are high achievements in face-to-face contests and olympiads of various levels – the Republican intellectual competition of young historians “My Little Homeland”, the Republican contest of research projects and creative works “Zerde” among students in grades 1-7, Republican competition of scientific projects in general subjects (Dauletkhanova M.S., teacher of world history), the network stage of the Republican Olympiad in general education atelnym subjects (Manatbekov JM, a teacher of history of Kazakhstan).
     All members of the methodological association take an active part in the translation of the experience of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools – open lessons, seminars, trainings, master classes for teachers of secondary schools of the city and region are held. History teachers Ibraimova A.S., Zeynollaeva G.A. They are participants in field events for sharing experience, they organize training seminars for teachers as part of the Rural School project. Grigoryan M.M. is a high achiever of education, Dauletkhanova M.S. is awarded with an honorary diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Abilkasenov TS awarded with a letter of gratitude from AO Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools.

     The MA of Physics Teachers has been working since the first day of the opening of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Since September 2018, the Methodical Association of Physics Teachers is headed by Kambarov Edilzhan Yerzhanuly.
    In total, 12 teachers work at the MA Physics Department, who contribute to the upbringing and education of the young generation, the country’s intellectual future. In the 2018-2019 academic year, graduates of 12 classes showed excellent results in the final certification among graduates of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools of the country. Tusupzhanov Aydin Eleusizovich received a letter of thanks from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
     Teachers are constantly working to improve their skills through training at various seminars, courses, online courses. Toleuzhanov Kaiyrkhan Toleuzhanovich and Zhumagazinova Nazerke Toktaubaykyzy underwent internships for CLIL and Action Research in the UK. Teachers successfully apply their knowledge in their professional activities, and also transmit their experience through seminars, master classes, open lessons.
     Students of the department take prizes in network olympiads and republican competitions.

The Russian language and literature department involves 8 teachers, including 5 experts and 3 moderators, who are creative, proactive and love their subject.
The main priorities of the work are the improvement of the quality of students’ knowledge through qualitative teaching, the development of conceptual thinking and the implementation of intersubject communication based on conceptual learning.
Among the teachers of the department there are certified trainers: СITO trainer –S.Biyarova, updated teaching content trainer –– A.Dolanbaeva, effective teaching trainer of level courses –– G.Zhukokova, CITO tasks originator ––A. Kabenova.
The teachers led the groups of “Lesson Study” and the main staff of the department was engaged in “Action Research.” The research topics are “Does differentiation of tasks contribute to the development of intellectual skills of students A, B, C?” (the group of Abdrakhmanova Zh.B – Russian language and physical education), “Is it possible to develop the students’ skill of reasoned coherent speech through the non-continuous texts?” (the group of Saylaubekova N.A. – Russian language and mathematics), “Do the terms and new vocabulary influence the development of students’ writing skills?” (the group of Suleimenova O.D.) Biyarova S.B. is the organizer of network community of teachers – researchers of the region and the coordinator of the pedagogical approach “Lesson Study”.
The teachers continued the tradition of conducting integrated lessons as part of the implementation of the program and conceptual training project: integrated lessons of the Russian language and biology (Imashpaeva G.A., Dolanbaeva A.A.). In the framework of this experience, teachers of the Russian language and literature work together with teachers of other subjests (music, history, biology, chemistry, physics) in preparation for lessons on the topics of IEP, search and selection of resources.
Teachers of the department broadcast their experience through the development and dissemination of teaching materials, conducting online lessons,seminars, coach sessions, master classes for city and regional teachers, preparing students for olympiads and competitions.
In January 2020, at the network Olympiad in Shymkent, the10th grade student Halel Karina took first place; the supervisor is Suleimenova O.S..
The head of the Russian language and literature department is Zhukokova Gulmira Zheksenovna.

     The strategic purpose of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools is to teach and educate the intellectual elite of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is the task of physical education teachers to bring up a healthy and spiritually-minded generation who have a healthy lifestyle that is competitive, patient, loyal and friendly.
     The main purpose of the Physical Education Department is to strengthen the health of each student, give education in the field of physical culture and sports, to promote a healthy lifestyle among students. The members of the Department are constantly searching for this purpose. It is actively involved in the development of students’ athletic skills through various courses, seminars, and coaching courses. Currently the school runs football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, togyzkumalak, cycling, and fitness clubs. Our students participate in city, regional, and network games and win prizes. In addition, team sports are held annually to encourage close communication between school and parents.
     The Department of Physical Education teachers has been operating since the opening of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Ust-Kamenogorsk in 2010. There are 7 teachers of physical culture and 1 teacher of basic military training. Among them there are 1 teacher-expert, 3 teacher – moderators, 3 teachers and 1 level teacher of basic military training. Department of physical education has been headed by Didar Bebitovich Abilkasenov since 2017. The teachers of the Department are experienced and successful in sport. Netbaev A.Kh. is the candidate for master of sports in skiing, Dautbekov B.D. is the candidate for master of sports in volleyball, Akhmetov K.S. is the candidate for master of sports in powerlifting, Orman K. is the candidate for master of sports in athletics. And also Orman K. is the judge of the highest category of sports on togyzkumalak and athletics.
     Our teachers annually provide methodological assistance to seminars and workshops for teachers of secondary schools in East Kazakhstan region in order to promote the updated curriculum. In addition, our teachers take part in city and networking contests, win prizes, and are proud of their students and pride in their colleagues.
     We are convinced that in the future, the Department of Physical Education will be able to enhance its work further, as well as to achieve the highest achievements of our students in science and education, as well as in sports and to contribute to the education of a healthy, well-rounded personality.

     Foreign languages department is represented by highly qualified teachers of English, German, and Chinese, the subject of Global Perspectives and Project Work (GPPW) and economics. All teachers have successfully completed the advanced level training courses.
     Among teachers, there are certified trainers of CTY, Teacher-Training, Microsoft Education, EDUSOFT Education, criteria-based assessment, school assessment, critical and design thinking. Three teachers are evaluators of the Council of International Schools (CIS).
      Foreign languages department places the quality of teaching and professional growth as its priority through training in different courses: CELTA, TKT, CLIL, Methods of teaching German in Secondary school, Microsoft Education, criteria-based assessment, CTY, Development and examination of assessment tools. Three teachers studied Masters under the Bolashak program in the United Kingdom and one teacher completed an internship under the program “Bolashak” in the Netherlands. Among the teachers, there are holders of the Master of Nazarbayev University degree and other higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
     Teachers successfully apply their knowledge and skills in professional activities, the result of which is high student performance in the international IELTS exam (overall band 7.0-8.0 out of 9.0 possible, and 9.0 points in individual skills) and international HSK exam (Chinese). There are prize-winning places in the network and Republican Olympiads in English and German, international competitions and Olympiads, participation in MUN conferences at the regional and international levels (UN Model) and in international conferences.
     Along with this, the teachers of the department, as part of updated educational system, transmit their best practice both to secondary schools in the region and to the network of Nazarbayev Intellectual schools.
The team is not only successful at work, but also active in public life. For example, four teachers are members of the NIS team in several sports. The teachers also actively participate in volunteer movements and various charity events.

     The pedagogical staff of the Department is represented by highly qualified teachers, including1 – researcher, 3 – experts, 4 moderators, 4 – teachers, 1 teacher- trainee.
     The teachers constantly improve their pedagogical skills through the study and development of the best international and Kazakh experience, introducing new pedagogical technologies into the practice of teaching.
     The Department is working in many areas:
– dissemination of their best experience for teachers of the city, region, Republic, through face-to-face seminars, master classes, coaching sessions, which are held on the basis of NIS, as well as through online broadcasting;
– participation in republican and international scientific and practical conferences;
– work with gifted and talented students of biology and geography, as well as smart technologies, including winners of international and republican Olympiads and project competitions;
– organization and popularization of the TYB (tournament of young biologists), this team intellectual game allowed the NIS of Ust-Kamenogorsk to declare itself not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the near abroad ( the NIS teams performed successfully in regional and all-Russian tournaments). Starting from 2015, the NIS of Ust-Kamenogorsk is a venue for the city Tournament of young biologists.
– Teachers are actively involved in many innovative projects held in the city, region, and Republic.

The “Design and Technology” department comprises of a total of 12 educators. 6 ICT teachers, 4  Graphic design teachers, 1 laboratory assistance for the Robotics lab and 1 international teacher who are supervised by the Head of Department (HOD) Mrs Oryngul Orymkanovna Sadykanova

 

Goals of the department are as follows

• To instill a culture of enthusiasm and creativity in Art and computer science
• To develop the concept of “Global Citizenship” awareness in students
• Provide assistance in lesson development in 2 languages: English and Russian

The focus point of the teachers is to instill cognitive skills development of the students so, as to broaden and enhance their creative abilities leading to an established culture of information dissemination

Teachers in the department have been, presented with many awards and accolades for their dedication in education

     The MA of Mathematics Teachers have been working since the first day of the opening of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Since September 2016, the Methodological Association of Mathematics Teachers is headed by Rustem Kabdykarymovich Tyulyubergenev, and since September 2019 by Raissova Bakytgul Toktasynovna.

     The priority areas of work of the Methodical Association in the 2019-2020 school year are: improving the quality of knowledge, inculcating school values ​​through high-quality implementation of NIS programs, developing leadership qualities of students, implementing a differentiated teaching approach in the learning process, continuous learning and advanced training of teaching staff.

     Currently, 20 teachers work in the Methodical Association, of which five are expert teachers, five are moderating teachers, night are teachers and one is a trainee teacher. Galia Abenovna Urkimbaeva was awarded a diploma from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olga Nikolaevna Slonova received a letter of thanks from the MES RK.

     Teachers are consistently working to improve their skills through attending various seminars, courses and online courses. Aizhan Beisembievna Akiyeva completed internships in the Bolashak program at universities in Finland and the UK. Teachers successfully apply the acquired knowledge in their professional activities, and transmit their experience through seminars, master classes, and open lessons.
