System of work with gifted children

The system of work with gifted children in NIS Ust-Kamenogorsk (Fig. 1) includes work in 4 directions:
• development of intellectual talent;
• development of artistic talent;
• development of sports talent;
• formation of leadership qualities;

According to this system, the school organizes planned activities for the development of all types of giftedness in students. Curators, psychologists and parents draw up individual development routes for each student, where you can clearly see what type of giftedness prevails in the student. This route allows you to determine in which direction you need to work with the student in order to achieve certain results. This academic year, intellectual clubs of international teachers in such areas as ecology, biology, and physics contribute to the development of students’ intellectual talent.
The purpose of research activities at school is to develop a research culture, enrich and deepen subject knowledge and apply it in practice. Mastering the skills of research activities is carried out through:
– mini-studies in the classroom within the framework of the program material;
– cooperation with leading scientists of regional universities;
– the work of the scientific community of students;
– annual open festival of scientific projects “Open evening”;
– elective courses on nano- and biotechnology and programming;
– meeting with scientists from different countries, guests of the city under the Smart Thursday project
The school has established contact on a contractual basis with leading universities and research centers in the region, which enables students to conduct the practical part of research work and receive advice from practical scientists. Since the 2017-2018 academic year, experimental, research work has been carried out in the subjects of the natural science cycle on the basis of the school greenhouse. During the implementation of research projects, students take care of plants, master practical skills and abilities in growing vegetables, seedlings of flower and vegetable crops. Scientific projects implemented on the basis of the greenhouse win prizes at regional, national and international competitions. For example, the project of a 12th grade student Seitkamzina A “Studying the effect of a mineral-protein complex on seed germination, growth and development of plants” received a patent for an invention and took 2nd place in the All-Russian Olympiad of research projects on the problems of protecting the OS “Man-Earth-Space” , 10th grade student Seilkhanova D. became the winner of the Republican competition “One Hundred Best Scientific Projects of the Year”. Her project solves the problem of growing apple trees in the harsh climatic conditions of East Kazakhstan. The results of the research work were published in the scientific collection “One Hundred Best Scientific Projects of the Year”..
