The regional seminar organized by the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Ust-Kamenogorsk on the specifics of teaching subjects in the framework of the implementation of the updated educational content was highly appreciated by teachers from different parts of East Kazakhstan.
139 teachers from Tarbagatai, Kurchum, Shemonaiha, Katon-Karagai, Zyryanovsk, Ulan, Glubokoe districts, Ridder and the region center Ust-Kamenogorsk arrived at the workshop. Teachers of chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science, physics, geography, history, Kazakh language and physical education visited demo-lessons on their own subjects prepared by teachers of Nazarbayev Intellectual school in Ust-Kamenogorsk. As a result, many participants considered the event necessary according to their feedback, noting interesting methods likewise “Turn on the light”, facts, good interdisciplinary link, students’ active learning. One of them expressed his gratitude with the words: “Thank you so much for the valuable knowledge and experience that you gave us.”
In the second part of the seminar, teachers of the region took part in 13 trainings on topical issues of learning: using PASCO in conducting practical work in physics, chemistry and biology, developing and expertise the tools for formative and summative assessment of student learning achievements, CLIL strategies in computer science lessons, implementing criterion based assessment in school, practice and implementation of web – resources in the classroom, etc. To support successfull implementation of the updated educational content in the region teachers of NIS developed the training guidelines and recommendations.
The seminar was organized by Methodological Center at Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Ust-Kamenogorsk, created to support the process of implementing the updated content of education in schools of the East Kazakhstan region, and by the regional center “Shygys”.
